If you’re the kind of payroll professional who loves digging into data, solving complex award interpretation puzzles, and making sure people are paid correctly every single time - this is your kind of role.
One of our long‑standing clients is investing heavily in payroll compliance, and they’re looking for a hands‑on, detail‑driven Payroll Compliance Specialist to help them strengthen processes, fix issues at the root, and build a truly sustainable payroll environment.
This isn’t BAU payroll. This is meaningful, high‑impact work that protects employees, improves systems, and shapes the future of payroll compliance across the organisation.
Why You’ll Love This Role
This is the kind of opportunity that gives you both challenge and purpose. You’ll love it if you’re looking for:
- 6-month temporary assignment based at Eagle Farm, Brisbane.
- Immediate start available, or short notice periods are ok!
- Flexibility that works - enjoy 1 day per week working from home.
- Ease and convenience - free onsite parking means no morning parking hunt.
- A business that takes compliance seriously - you’ll have support, resources, and buy‑in.
- Variety every day - investigations, data deep‑dives, problem‑solving, and partnering with the business.
- A chance to build better systems - not just fix issues, but help prevent them.
- A team that values accuracy, integrity, and doing things the right way
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be the go‑to person for identifying, investigating, and resolving payroll compliance issues. Your work will directly influence how the business pays, reports, and governs its workforce.
You will:
- Analyse payroll, time & attendance, and employment data to uncover underpayments, risks, and control gaps.
- Build and maintain compliance reports and validation tools to detect systemic issues.
- Lead investigations including root cause analysis, award interpretation, and historical impact assessments.
- Perform manual payroll calculations to quantify remediation.
- Partner closely with Payroll to implement accurate, sustainable fixes.
- Ensure award interpretations and pay rules are current, correct, and consistently applied.
- Support internal and external audits with clear documentation and evidence.
- Maintain strong compliance controls and escalate risks appropriately.
What They’re Looking For
You’ll thrive here if you bring:
- 3–5 years’ payroll experience with exposure to compliance, investigations, or remediation.
- Strong knowledge of modern awards, EBAs, payroll legislation, and superannuation.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability.
- The ability to turn complex findings into clear, actionable remediation steps.
- High integrity, a governance mindset, and the confidence to work independently
- Experience with SAP SuccessFactors, Kronos Dimensions, or advanced Excel (highly regarded).
